54: Finding Hope and Fertility After 40: Healing Your Body Naturally with Juliette Owen Nuttall

Julia Owen-Nuttall Episode 54

I got a chance to interview Juliette Owen Nuttall, founder of the Non-Invasive Method, which helps women over 40 conceive without IVF. Juliette shares her incredible journey from firefighter to fertility coach, overcoming numerous obstacles along the way.

Juliette’s Story: From Firefighter to Fertility Coach

Juliette’s path to helping women with fertility wasn’t straightforward. She began her career as a firefighter, fulfilling a lifelong dream. However, the stress of the job, coupled with PTSD and the unique challenges of being a woman in that environment, led her to leave the profession.

After meeting her current husband and moving abroad to start a business, Juliette faced a series of devastating setbacks. They lost everything – their money, businesses, and even ended up sleeping in a tent. During this time, Juliette experienced a major mental and physical breakdown.

Upon returning to the UK, she received a grim diagnosis: a massive infection in her fallopian tubes, scarring, fibroids, and cysts. Doctors recommended a hysterectomy, telling her she would never get pregnant at 41.

Overcoming the Odds

Despite the bleak prognosis, Juliette refused to give up. Drawing on her training as a shiatsu practitioner and her understanding of Chinese medicine, she began researching fertility over 40 and addressing childhood trauma.

Against all odds, Juliette became pregnant at 44 and gave birth to her daughter at 45. This experience inspired her to help other women facing similar challenges.

The Power of Mind and Body Connection

Juliette emphasizes the importance of addressing both physical and psychological issues when it comes to fertility. She shares two key factors that kept her going:

  1. A spiritual connection to her future child’s soul
  2. The mantra “I’ll find a way”

She believes in the body’s ability to heal itself and the power of addressing root causes rather than just symptoms.

Working with Women Over 40

When working with clients, Juliette takes a personalized approach:

  1. Conducting a fertility strategy session
  2. Identifying the client’s “fertility personality”
  3. Addressing fears and childhood traumas
  4. Implementing specific nutritional and lifestyle changes
  5. Helping clients navigate their identity and career concerns

Common Challenges for Women Over 40

Juliette discusses the fear of motherhood that many women face, often stemming from:

  1. Childhood traumas
  2. The desire to maintain a hard-earned career identity
  3. Lack of positive role models for balancing motherhood and career

She helps clients reprogram generational beliefs about motherhood and find ways to integrate their career aspirations with their desire for children.

Message of Hope

To women who have experienced loss or are facing fertility challenges in their 40s, Juliette offers these words of encouragement:

“It’s okay to try again. Even if things have gone wrong, it doesn’t always mean that the future is going to go wrong too. Just gradually walk towards what you want, and you’ll find strength in that. Keep walking forward and finding a way.”

Juliette believes that sometimes our greatest challenges are there to teach us and lead us to a life more aligned with who we truly are.
